How Far Along: 25 weeks! (Pic: 25w3d)
Size of Baby as Relative to Common Household Fruit or Vegetable: Cauliflower
Total Weight Gain: Up 7 lbs.
Sex: Boy
Movement: I can tell by his movements that he’s grown a lot in the last couple of weeks. His movements are less dramatic but much stronger. He’s still able to flip around quite a bit in there, but his favorite position is still sitting head up, criss-cross-apple-sauce. I continue to be sort of unnerved by how much less he moves than Isla. He’s definitely moving around in there, but it doesn’t feel like someone is filming a tae bo video in my uterus 24/7. (How badly does that tae bo reference date me? Do you younglings even know what I’m talking about?)
Sleep: 8-10 hours at night, plus an hour or more nap during the afternoon. Growing a baby is exhausting, apparently.
What I Miss: Regular bowel movements
Cravings: Chocolate cake and chocolate ice cream
Symptoms: I’m large, constipated, and sweaty. I’ve also been having horrible ocular migraines, or maybe it’s just been one extended 4-day migraine with multiple auras. I’m finally starting to feel better 6 days on, but I’m still wearing sunglasses when I’m on the computer to keep the visual disturbances under control.
Maternity Clothes: I’m starting to feel the pinch of a dramatically smaller wardrobe.
Preparations: We’ve made 3 trips to IKEA in the last week! I’ve been doing a lot of organization with Isla and the baby’s things, and last night, Kellen installed new storage in the kids’ closet. I’m planning to start making some baby purchases this week, and next weekend, my parents are taking Isla, so I can get things really straightened around in her soon-to-be-shared room.
Emotions: I know 15-17 weeks is still a ways to go, but I feel like my body is beginning to recognize we’re coming into the home stretch on this. Not only is the real discomfort starting, but I am itching to get everything ready for a baby. The reality of having another baby has started to sink in. I won’t lie. I’m a little terrified about not getting 8 solid hours of sleep a night for months at a stretch. I have been really spoiled for sleep the last couple of years, and you appreciate it more when you know what it’s like to go a long, long time without it.
PgAL Thoughts: A little over a week ago, one of the ladies in my loss community experienced a stillbirth. Her gorgeous daughter was born sleeping at 38 weeks. Her loss has been weighing heavily on my heart. If you could, please say a prayer or send some love out into the universe for Kenley and her sweet mama, daddy, and big brother who are missing her so much.
Best Moment(s) This Week: Getting new storage and organization in place in the kids’ room and eating my mom’s amazing taco soup! I had 4 bowls in one sitting, in addition to 2 tacos. Sooo yummy!
