Merry Christmas, Y’all!
How Far Along: 23 weeks! (Pic: 23w0d – It’s 70-something degrees here in Texas today. Pretty sure Santa wore shorts to drop off our presents last night.)
Isla Comparison: 23 weeks pregnant with Isla
Size of Baby as Relative to Common Household Fruit or Vegetable: Kraft Mac ‘N Cheese box
Total Weight Gain: 6 lbs. up
Sex: Boy
Movement: Kicks and punches, but usually just for a bit at certain times of day. He’s very different from Isla, who never stopped moving.
Sleep: It requires 3 pillows expertly arranged, but once I’m out, I’m out.
What I Miss: My back not hurting.
Cravings: This past week, I craved–and ate–everything.
Symptoms: I was ravenously hungry for about a week, and then yesterday it stopped dead, and I’ve mostly felt somewhere between a little and extremely nauseous ever since. My back is hurting a lot more, and clicking when I walk. I’m so ready to see the chiropractor on Monday.
Maternity Clothes: Yup. This was a big growing week for Ian…and me. Last Friday I could still surprise people in person with the news I was pregnant. This Friday, not so much! I’ve ballooned.
Preparations: I’ve been finalizing the registry. (Note: The registry is just for us to know what we need.) The real work will start once we get through the holidays.
Emotions: I’m so grateful for my family this Christmas.
PgAL Thoughts: Last Christmas, I was actively miscarrying for the second time in a few months, still grieving our first loss, and wondering if we’d ever have another baby. I can’t even begin to describe how much I was hurting. This year is so completely different, and I can’t help but feel gratitude and tremendous relief that we are going into a new year with such completely different circumstances.
Best Moment(s) This Week: Christmas! We’re home this year, and enjoying the warm weather and the whole weird concept of a chill Christmas at home. I haven’t had one of those since I was in high school! We spent Christmas Eve hanging out watching Star Wars and drove around our neighborhood to look at Christmas lights after it got dark. This morning, we did Santa and opened gifts, and then my parents and brother came over for lunch. It’s been a yummy, fun, relaxing couple of days, and we still have a whole weekend to look forward to!
