How Far Along: 37 weeks (Pic: 37w2d)
Isla Comparison: Here. Just want to note, they no longer consider 37 weeks “term” but “early term.” This means if baby comes now, he’ll probably be fine and no one will try to stop it, but we’re still hoping he’ll bake another week or two so he’ll be as ready for the outside as possible. Personally, I think we’ve got another 4 weeks before he’ll show up.
Size of Baby as Relative to Common Household Fruit or Vegetable: At this point, we can just call him baby-sized.
Total Weight Gain: Up 22 lbs. Technically down a pound from last week, but that’s not a bad thing given that this is the first week in a couple of weeks we haven’t had a ton of birthday cake and Easter candy sitting around the house, taunting me.
Sex: Boy
Movement: Occasional stretching and twisting, but he’s a pretty chill baby. Let’s hope it sticks! Currently working on getting him in a good position for delivery. We were able to confirm he’s head down this week (also a little over 6 lbs. and looking great!), but he likes to hang out in a posterior position, and we do not want to battle another posterior baby. Spending lots of time doing inversions, squats, and rolling around on my exercise ball.
Sleep: I was sick most of this week, so I’ve been sleeping more than usual. Still having frequent wake-ups, but my body definitely needs a lot more rest to heal up.
What I Miss: Breathing! So ready for this cold to be gone.
Cravings: The people who work at the Taco Bell drive-through recognize me and remember which hot sauce I prefer. If that tells you anything.
Symptoms: Most of my symptoms have been eclipsed by being miserable with a cold. I have a bit of swelling and my lower back hurts from time to time. On the whole, I feel like I’ve gotten off pretty easily with this pregnancy.
Maternity Clothes: I’m huge. Almost nothing fits.
Preparations: I think we’ve managed to get most of the rest of our stuff together. A few outstanding items, mostly housekeeping stuff, but I feel pretty confident in saying we’re ready.
Emotions: Feeling a little nostalgic for Isla’s baby days now that she’s 4 and very soon not to be our only baby anymore. I also feel a little like we’re in the calm before the storm. Things have been pretty busy, but our family life has been so calm and peaceful lately. I know that’s about to be turned upside down, and I’m enjoying things being routine and easy for a few more weeks.
PgAL Thoughts: Just looking forward to having a baby.
Best Moment(s) This Week: Getting to peek in on our little boy at the ultrasound on Thursday. It was so great to see him so big (seriously, he barely fit in the monitor!) and healthy. We’re so very lucky to have 2 healthy kiddos.
