- Frantically searching for my keys when I should have left 5 minutes ago

- French fries with a side of veggie squeeze pack
- A stack of clean, folded diapers and clothes sitting on the railing at the top of the stairs for days
- Owning a pair of heels but having no idea where they are
- The uncashed check, Star Trek pin, children’s book and Ready, Set, Sew! DVD sitting on my desk covered in dust
- Wind burned cheeks, chapped lips, and tangled hair
- The persistent smell of poop and the nagging paranoia I’ve got some on me somewhere
- 4 months of paperwork stacked on top of the shredder
- Cake that comes from a box
- Putting something where I’m sure I’ll remember it…then forgetting where I put it
- Grainy, blurry, poorly lit photos
- Gray hairs and crows feet
- Goodbye kisses in the driveway every morning
- Chipped fingernail polish
- Belly laughs when my toddler figures out fart jokes
- A day-old, dried up green bean under the kitchen table
- Tumbleweeds of dog hair
- Dust on my make-up bottles and compacts
- Stepping on half of a plastic Easter egg. In October. Again.
- Tiny toddler finger smudges on my glasses
- Magnetic A, B, Cs all over the house
- Holding my husband’s hand while I drive
- Debates over what to make for dinner and resorting to take-out because we just can’t decide
- Forgetting to go grocery shopping
- A string of abandoned hobbies
- Counting to make an unpleasant task entertaining
- Clumps of dirt stuck in the wheels of the stroller
- A slight Southern twang
- Snuggling with a plastic big rig that lights up and plays rock music
- Watching the sun set with your family from the driveway
- Toy Story over and over and over
- Finding a spoon on the bookshelf in my bedroom (how long has that been there?)
- Tiny neon leggings and glittery baby socks
- Chips, queso and guacamole for lunch
- Shouts of joy over birds, the moon, planes, and trucks of all kinds
- The reserve pint of ice cream in the freezer
- Random piles of junk from my husband’s pockets all over the house
- Cottage cheese and canned pears
- Doing a sniff test to see if I’ve put on deodorant today or not
- Memorizing bedtime stories
- Rocking in the dark long after my baby is asleep
- Sunshine
- Shade trees
- Emergency caffeine
- “We’ll unpack those boxes the next time we move.”
- Cookie monster toothbrushes
- A husband who bakes and vacuums for fun
- Year-round flipflops
- Sweatpants
- Hitting the snooze button
- Grumbling about smokers smoking too close to the playground
- Rubbing my chin on top of my toddler’s head just to feel how soft her hair is
- Washable marker all over my clothes and hands
- The clothes hanger that’s been in the back seat of the car for months and I don’t even know where it came from
- Junk mail
- Teething tablets
- Sunscreen
- Knocking on my daughter’s door first thing in the morning
- The sound the computer makes when it’s “thinking” really hard
- Hamburgers
- Emptying the lint trap
- “We’re almost there” when we’re really not
- Finding toys behind and under furniture
- A hot cup of tea with just the right amount of honey
- Love. More than I ever thought possible.
