Baking #2: 38 Weeks

How Far Along: 38 weeks (Pic: 38w3d)

Isla Comparison: Here. I’m carrying a lot lower this time. It’s nice. I can breathe a lot easier, and I think it makes for a much more comfortable pregnancy in general.

Size of Baby as Relative to Common Household Fruit or Vegetable: Baby-sized!

Total Weight Gain: Up 22-23 lbs.

Sex: Boy

Movement: I’m really curious to see if his sleep-wake cycle once he’s here correlates very well with what apparently is his sleep-wake cycle on the inside. If so, score! If not, the universe is playing a nice joke on me.

Sleep: I wake up for long stretches in the night and can’t go back to sleep, then take 2 naps in one day. Because pregnancy!

What I Miss: Being able to lift my leg up in front of me at a 90 degree angle.

Cravings: Tuna salad. Apart from that, my appetite has been falling off a bit, and the idea of meat in particular–except tuna–sounds horrible. I’ve been doing a lot of vegetarian this week.

Symptoms: Swollen, sweaty, tired. I’ve also got a few new stretchmarks, and I figure there will be more before all is said and done. *shrug* It’s all part of making a baby.

Maternity Clothes: I’m so glad we officially have less than a month to go. I’ve got 3 shirts on constant rotation.

Preparations: I think we’re ready. There are few last minute items to throw into our hospital bag when he shows up, and some non-critical chores–like hanging a mirror in the office, and finding things to put on my new shelves in the kitchen–that would be nice to finish before he’s here, but. On the whole, we’re baby-ready. If he came today, which I’m not anticipating, we’ll be fine.

Emotions: I frequently have that feeling like I’m about to start crying but for absolutely no reason. Walking down the street? Here come the tears. I’ve also been a little more impatient and irritable the last few days. I think it’s because of the fatigue. Just a little worn thin and frayed around the edges all the time.

PgAL Thoughts: To be honest, trying not to think about it for a while.

Best Moment(s) This Week: Isla had a field trip with her daycare on Friday, and I got to take the day off and go with her! It was a lot of fun, and I’m so glad to get in a bit of special 1:1 time with her while I still can.
