32 week update

January 16, 2012 Comments : 5

32w1dHow Far Along: 32 weeks (pic: 32w1d)

Size of Baby as Relative to Common Household Fruit or Vegetable: Some sort of [large] squash

Total Weight Gain: Still holding steady at +11 lbs

Sex: Girl

Movement: Lots. And starting to get kind of painful.

Sleep: My dreams are weirder, my pee breaks are more frequent, but sleep is still pretty awesome.

What I Miss: Cute sweaters.

Cravings: This week…sweet. I ate an entire pint of Ben & Jerry’s in under half an hour on Friday. Horrifying.

Symptoms: Starting to have a bit of linea negra. At first I thought it was just my hair since that’s gotten thicker (yuck), but nope. Definitely the skin underneath. My belly also has an overhang. Like, I don’t know how else to describe it. It now goes out and droops down a little from where it connects back to the rest of my body. I’m guessing this is when the stretchmarks start to show up? Rib pain has gotten so bad I’ve spent half the work week at home because I couldn’t handle a bra anymore. You know…lots of fun stuff. One of the cooler things, though, is that I am really starting to feel various body parts in my belly. Like right now, I’ve got a butt jutting out of belly. Pretty distinctive. You can tell she’s related to me. 😉

Emotions: Still mostly normal.

Maternity Clothes: I’ve outgrown both pairs of my maternity jeans. I’m now pretty much exclusively in leggings.

Best Moment This Week: On the baby front, our 32-week appointment with the perinatologist ranks pretty high up there. I think this is the first doctor’s appointment I’ve had in 3 months where all of the news has been good! On the professional front, we had the first session of the massive team-wide training I’ve been organizing since March on Tuesday, and it went really well. It was a huge relief after 9+ months of training, multiple delays that were out of my control, etc.

To Do List: We still need: 2 days of prefolds, covers, CD-friendly detergent, cosleeper sheets, stroller, swing, Moby, probably a few more storage containers, and a diaper bag. I will have a boat load of laundry to do once we get the prefolds and before all is said and done, I’m guessing we’ll need more storage bins for all of Isla’s stuff. With the bathinette put together, though, it’s actually knocked out a chunk of the work we had to do. I’m guessing a lot of the rest of it will have to wait until after the shower in February, so for now…we wait.

Don’t stress too much about the detergent. Just use an unscented and run an extra rinse cycle.

I mostly used Arm and Hammer. It’s really the extra rinse cycle that’s the important thing.

And whatever you do- NO FABRIC SOFTENER!!!!!

Thanks for the tip! 🙂 We picked up some dryer balls, thinking those might be a good alternative to fabric softener. Do you know if that will cause an issue?
