Baking #2: 36 Weeks

36 weeks belly pic

How Far Along: 36 weeks (Pic: 36w3d)

Isla Comparison: Here

Size of Baby as Relative to Common Household Fruit or Vegetable: Canary melon

Total Weight Gain: Up 23 lbs. I’m so glad we have no other big holidays or candy/cake-heavy festivities between now and my cut-off date!

Sex: Boy

Movement: I think he may have flipped back breech. We have an ultrasound on Thursday (I was measuring 3 weeks behind at my last appointment and while no one is super concerned considering I’m a tiny person with a history of measuring small and making small babies, we want to check things out just to be sure), so hopefully then we can confirm he’s head down and launch-ready.

Sleep: At this point, waking up every hour and a half is just the way it is. Good practice for baby, I guess.

What I Miss: My ankles

Cravings: Still all about the Taco Bell

Symptoms: Did you guys know I’m pregnant? Because I don’t think I really realized it until this week. Everything is swollen and uncomfortable. Doing the least thing feels like running a marathon. There is a whole laundry list of symptoms that fall under “unspeakable horrors” I won’t share. Stick a fork in me. I’m done.

Maternity Clothes: Kellen joked this week that my belly hasn’t grown out, but down, because my belly hangs out from under pretty much every shirt I own, maternity or otherwise, at this point.

Preparations: On Friday I had a bit of a breakdown over the amount of stuff we have left to do, so Kellen and I made a list (okay, mostly Kellen since I’m too emotional for practical things like list-making) of everything that needs to be done, broken out by weekend. It’s a long list, but this weekend we knocked out disassembling the elliptical and moving it to the garage (Kellen even fixed it in the process!), putting together the swing and bouncer, doing a stack of laundry and ironing and packing hospital bags, putting up 1 of 3 blackout shades in our bedroom, and testing out and organizing my old breast pump. That’s on top of Easter!

Emotions: I have a lot of them right now.

PgAL Thoughts: Doing the math with my loss last summer, I’ve been almost continuously pregnant for 10 months, and I still easily have another month to go. And that’s just the last loss. We’ve been hoping for a baby for almost 2 years and had to go through so much to get here. We’re so ready for this little boy.

Best Moment(s) This Week: This weekend was Easter, so we dyed eggs and did an egg hunt (or 10) with Isla. My dad and brother came over and had lunch with us. It was pretty low key all things considered, but I think Isla had a really good time.
