Baking #2: 34 Weeks

34 weeks belly pic

How Far Along: 34 weeks (Pic: 34w2d)

Isla Comparison: Here

Size of Baby as Relative to Common Household Fruit or Vegetable: Babysizer says kiddo is the size of a gallon jug of milk. It certainly feels like I’m carrying around a gallon sized jug of milk!

Total Weight Gain: Up 18 lbs. (or about 2 gallons of milk.)

Sex: Boy

Movement: He’s starting to run out of room, so there’s been a lot of knees and elbows in places where there shouldn’t be knees and elbows.

Sleep: I’ve been waking up a lot for all sorts of reasons. I’m hot, I have to pee, my hips hurt, he’s kicking the crap out of me. Then I have a hard time going back to sleep.

What I Miss: Sleep and bladder control. I’m not under any delusions that these will return post-partum.

Cravings: Taco bell. It’s so gross, but I can’t stop eating it.

Symptoms: I still feel really good for the most part. I definitely don’t feel 34 weeks pregnant. I did start having painful Braxton-Hicks over the weekend though (got too dehydrated and not enough rest), and I feel like more and more the baby is working his way down where he needs to be. It hasn’t gotten miserable yet, but I do feel like my body is starting to realize the end is near.

Maternity Clothes: I’m so glad I bought more maternity shorts. It’s gotten HOT in Central Texas!

Preparations: I thought we were basically done with baby prep. Then this weekend, I remembered all of our old baby stuff that still needed to be unpacked and cleaned that for some reason I’d decided a while back to leave until later in the pregnancy. So. We’ve got a lot of bottles to clean and pump parts to sort out, plus some baby carriers and play mats and lord knows what else hiding in the closets. Then we’ll be done. Maybe. I have a feeling we’ll get baby boy home and realize we left a ton of things still to be done.

Emotions: Simultaneously eager for baby to be here and wanting this time to drag out so I can enjoy having some time to myself and a lot of 1:1 time with Isla and Kellen.

PgAL Thoughts: I’ve started pulling out the doppler a lot more frequently. As we head into the last few weeks, I worry more and more about things that could go wrong at the end. It’s nice to hear his heartbeat strong and steady and to feel his kicks and punches, telling me he’s still doing alright in there.

Best Moment(s) This Week: Our friends got married this weekend. It prompted many get-togethers and fun with all our friends in one place. Also, this cuteness:
