Ian Mac is 3 months old! This month’s big achievements include learning how to laugh and getting better at pushing his upper body off the ground during tummy time. We also got a week-and-a-half of sleeping all the way through the night, 10-12 hours/night, but then he added back a night wake-up…then another. At this point, he was probably sleeping better at 2 months than he is now. He’s a lot more awake this month generally, and he loves to be sitting up, looking around, and entertained.
He’s up to a little over 15 lbs. now and already outgrowing most of his 3-6 month clothes. I’ve had to start pulling out 6-9 month outfits, and I figure within another week or two, we’ll be out of the 3-6 monthers entirely. He’s quite the chunk and getting harder and harder to carry up and down the stairs.
Some of his favorite things this month include: blowing raspberries, Daddy’s Yoda voice, watching people turn faucets off and on, chewing on everything, sitting up, and being carried around up on people’s shoulders so he can look around. My mom says he also likes to watch the 70s Match Game with her during the day. She thinks it’s all the orange. He also still enjoys his play mat and is working more and more at grabbing for things…then putting them in his mouth.
Our big challenges this month have been trying to get him to sleep in the bassinet instead of the swing, which he’s having none of, and also I think slowly transitioning out of the swaddle. Naps have gotten shorter, as have his stretches of sleep at night. He’s been less interested in eating and more interested in the world around him, and he’s not as big a fan of the pacifier as he was a month ago. That makes it a lot harder to get him to settle when we’re out and about or during middle-of-the-night wake-ups or too-short naps.
I hope this month brings: rolling over and better sleep.
