Ian’s few steps here and there last month have turned into full blown walking this month. He can cross the living room and kitchen. He can walk in circles. He’s walked up and down hills. He’s run across restaurants. It’s still a little bumbling, and he falls down a lot (especially given that Isla and Pippin both tend to crowd him and get in his way.) But he’s definitely a walker at this point.
The tooth we thought had come in last month apparently had not, but the last few weeks have been full of teething fussiness. Bottom teeth have been just below the surface for weeks, and we’ll be grateful when they completely break through and stop giving the poor little guy such a hard time.
Ian’s eating more solid foods this month. He likes pasta, ravioli, banana, pizza crusts, and especially french fries. He liked chewing on carrots, but he spat it promptly out once he’d gummed it to a pulp. If he sees us eating, he not only wants to eat too, but wants to eat what we’re eating. Unfortunately, he’s not quite up for burgers and BBQ. Hurry up, teeth!
Sleep is still going pretty well, but he likes his 5:30 screaming wake-ups. Kellen and I…not so much. It seems ridiculous to complain about him sleeping from 7-5:30 consistently every night after Isla, and yet. How quickly we’ve become spoiled by our sweet sleeper.
Ian’s favorite things this month are the trash can, pushing everything (furniture in particular), walking and climbing, his little house with all the buttons, the play kitchen, finger foods, and music. He dances and sometimes even “sings” along to songs he likes. Bath time is still pretty rad, but he’s gotten used to it now that he’s getting a bath every night. He hates diaper changes, being stuck in his car seat or high chair when he’s ready to go play, and when he wants to be picked up NOW and you’re not picking him up. He’ll let you know he’s mad, too, with his new trick: an ear-splitting shriek.
He’s a sweetheart, generally, though, and a lot of fun to play with. He’s always got a big grin for a playmate and is overflowing with curiosity. We love him to pieces.
