We weren’t planning to buy a home until the spring, since our lease on our current place isn’t up until May, but Kellen and I have been tracking properties since we moved to Austin in June, just to get a feel for what we might like. Last week we decided it might be worth it to go ahead and take a look, since we’d found several promising properties.
We saw the place on Sunday afternoon and immediately loved it. In my head, I could see our kids running through the back yard and playing in the living room, see Kellen cooking in the kitchen and snuggling on the couch to watch movies. We looked at several more houses on Sunday and during the week, but kept coming back to the first place we saw. We decided the house was too good a deal to pass up, and somehow we managed to put in an offer and have it accepted by Thursday night!
My head is still spinning a little, but it’s a beautiful house in a hilly neighborhood with lots of trees. We’ll have a large yard that comes with a big back porch, chickens and a small garden. Inside the house, the current owners have done a lot of work on the place, and it is absolutely adorable. There is plenty of space for our family to grow and grow up. My only beef is the bathrooms, and even those have been fixed up and are in great shape. My 10 year plan includes ripping out the kitchen and putting in all new shelving, but it is definitely livable for now.
As long as everything goes smoothly, we close on December 10 and should be moved in by Christmas! Holy moly! Keep your fingers crossed for us!
