What a great year we’ve had!
This year, our baby girl Isla became a full-time walker and talker.
We celebrated the marriage of our good friends Doug and Rachel in Austin in February and made the decision that 2013 was our year to return to Texas.
Kellen and I celebrated our 3rd anniversary by getting way too dressed up for pretty much any restaurant in Portland and gorging on delicious meat.
Isla had her first birthday on St. Patrick’s Day and celebrated with friends, family, and a strawberry cake made from scratch by her daddy.
Kellen got a new job with a company in Austin, Texas(!!!), and we moved our whole family from Portland, Oregon to the capital of Texas. Isla experienced her first real Texas summer, which consisted of spending a lot of time in her whale pool, and Kellen and I enjoyed getting back to a steady diet of tacos, burritos, queso and guacamole after several years of living in a veritable Tex Mex desert.
Kellen and I both turned 29 without much fanfare. One last year to be in our 20s!
In December, we bought our first home, a beautiful 70s split level built into the side of a hill, with a big backyard, an organic garden, and 4 chickens. It’s only been a few weeks, but we’ve already settled in pretty well. We can already see the years unfolding before our eyes in this house, and we are so excited to jump into this next big adventure together.
This has been one of the best years of my entire life. As a family, Kellen and I realized many of our dreams this year: watching our little girl grow and thrive, returning to Austin, and putting down roots. Thank you, 2013, for being so good to us. Farewell!
