About Angel Baby Bottom Balm
Angel Baby® Bottom Balm is a certified organic, vegan, cloth diaper-friendly diaper cream made with olive oil, shea butter, lavender, calendula and more. It’s perfect for baby’s sensitive skin, allergy tested, and a great, organic way to combat diaper rash without ruining your cloth diapers.
My Experience with Angel Baby Bottom Balm
I’ve been using Angel Baby Bottom Balm with Isla since she was born. I love the way it feels. It’s so smooth and soft, I think largely because of the olive oil base. It has a really nice, mild scent. Unlike some of the heavier duty diaper rash creams, it doesn’t cling to your hands and it’s easy to wipe off with a rag or wet wipe. It’s perfect for cloth diapering, because it is so light. It washes out easily, and you don’t have to worry about your diaper leaking due to build-up. It works surprisingly well, too, for diaper rash when we catch it early. A little bit goes a long way, and a good smear of Bottom Balm will usually knock out a case of diaper rash.
It’s not the best for severe diaper rash, though, which thankfully Isla doesn’t get too often. If she has had diarrhea, though, or several #2s in a single day, her rear end is sometimes beyond the help of Bottom Balm, and we have to switch to disposables and to a cream with a zinc oxide base, to create a more powerful barrier between her skin and the moisture from the diaper. After all, if it washes off with a wet cloth, it will eventually rub off from a wet diaper. I keep a more powerful diaper rash cream in reserve for the nasty cases, but whether because we use cloth diapers are just because we lucked out with a kid with tough skin, we rarely have to use anything more than the Bottom Balm.
I love that when I use it on my daughter, I don’t have to worry about what I’m putting on her skin, even if I had to put it on multiple times a day every single day. I also love that it comes from a small, mom-run business, and when I was in Oregon, I was supporting a local business. It’s a product I feel good about using. I can’t say the same about a lot of other diaper rash creams or even a lot of baby products. That peace of mind is worth a lot.
