Last week, Isla started at her new preschool. We thought the time was right to transition her from going to a babysitter’s house every day to a daycare, that she’d benefit from a more formal curriculum and being around more kids. Her first day went really well, and while we love and miss her sitter, we’ve already seen positive changes in Isla.
The biggest improvement has been with potty training. Being on a consistent schedule and surrounded by other kids also using the potty, she’s now a potty pro. She’s going on the toilet multiple times a day, including at home, and based on all the dry diapers at nap times, I think we might be close to being completely diaper-free during the day.
She’s also coming home completely exhausted, to the point we’ve had to move her bedtime back by an entire hour, and she’s still sleeping consistently until 7 or later. I know that means they’re keeping her mind and body very busy.
My only complaint is that a week-and-a-half in, she’s already had to stay home sick with a fever. I expect there will be a lot of this in the next few months. Oh, well. It’s either going to happen now or when she starts kindergarten. Might as well get it over with.
All in all, Isla is very happy with her new daycare, and we are very happy with it, too.
