At his 4 month well baby check, Ian weighed in at 16 lbs. 12 oz. and measured 24.5″ long. He’s wearing 9 and 12 month clothes these days–with the 9 month outfits having a Hulk-like fit–which makes me unbelievably sad walking into a baby section at the store and realizing Ian can’t fit into half the clothes there!
This month, he found his feet. He’s gotten really good at grabbing toys and putting them in his mouth. He also has been working on sitting up and managed about 5 minutes in a high chair when we were out to eat the other day. He’s had his first few bites of food in the last week–oatmeal cereal, bananas, and apple. He didn’t care for any of them. He also started daycare just a few days shy of his 4 month birthday, meaning he also got his first cold. It’s been a booger.
The four month sleep regression is also upon us. I’ve been dreading this since before he was born, so it wasn’t a surprise, but I will be happy to see the other side of it. I have a feeling if his cold would ever go away–he’s been sick for over a week at this point–we’d probably be on our way to reasonable sleep again.
Despite being sick, though, he’s still a sunny, smiley, laughing little boy. He rarely fusses or gets upset unless he’s hungry or tired, and often not even then. Easiest baby ever–except from the hours of 2 AM to 6 AM.
This month, Ian loves:
- His sister, who gets him laughing like no one else
- Balloons. We hit up a birthday party where the kids were bouncing balloons around, and he thought that was the absolute best.
- His feet
- Falling and being spun around, thanks to Daddy
- Belly kisses
- The owl on his playmat
- Cars. He is completely intrigued by them, especially when we’re at Top Notch where he’s got a great view of rush hour traffic on Burnet.
He’s not a fan of:
- Big people food
- Having a stuffy nose
- Sleep
