I celebrated Mother’s Day this year with Kellen, Isla and my in-laws at an indoor water park. We had a great time.
We were there all of 10 minutes before the lifeguards had to jump in to rescue my father-in-law after he got disoriented coming out of a speed slide. *facepalm* Not long after that, Isla took off running from the kids’ area, darted under the rail intended to keep grown-up people out, and ran full bore into a 3-ft. deep swimming pool. It was like watching her go over the edge of the bed when she was 5 months old all over again, only scarier, because drowning. I managed to jump in and get her flipped onto her back (she was in a life jacket, thank goodness!) before the lifeguard even registered what was happening. Then my father-in-law got disoriented coming out of the speed slide again and the lifeguard had to jump in to fish him out again.
Add to that the fact that Isla continued to be a dare devil the entire time we were there, and I’m seriously surprised we weren’t politely thanked for our patronage but asked to please never come back again. We were only there a couple of hours! The poor lifeguards. I’m pretty sure our family alone kept them pretty busy today.
After the water park, we had lunch at a rooftop restaurant in the middle of the beautiful Willamette Valley, and then Isla slept the whole way home.
Pretty much a perfect day, near death experiences aside. 😉 Hope everyone else had a lovely weekend, and Happy Mother’s Day to all you mamas out there!
